Six Days without Sugar

This is the longest I've gone without sugar in at least 3 years; no fruit, no processed food. I can't say I feel any different than I usually do, but it's only 6 days. Yesterday the bathroom scale said I weighed 197.5. I accept the weight, but know that the Doctor's scale in 8 days is the only weight that will matter to me. I would be happy to see that number again next week - a loss of 6.5 lbs?! It's depressing since it's still higher than I've been in many years, but I've got to keep telling my self that I've stopped gaining and I'm working towards meaningful weight loss and better overall health.

It was just me and my younger sister for the Saturday run. We're not very good at motivating each other so we ended up walking in the rain/snow for 3/4's of the 2.5 mile loop. It was nice to chat after though which is equally important to me for our standing Saturday meet ups.

I bought a spiralizer and made zoodles for Sunday dinner with pesto and cod. My family enjoyed them and I am happy to get the volume of healthy food to fill me up; the illusion of a big meal... for the DH as well. I'm really focused on a 50% fat, 25% carb, 25% protein ratio and have been successfull each day within a few percentage points. This is also something that gives me confidence.

I don't want to fall into a trap of simply logging food and expecting losses. I want to actually plan meals and follow through - even on days when I don't want  to cook. I need to be diligent. I need to pay attention.

And I'm back to taking my supplements - Vitamin D, B12, Omega-3s, magnesium, iron at night.

The whole package of action and a renewed determination. I hope these last six days are a sign that things are turning up.

Sounds like it's going great! One suggestion for protein, we can't just think of it as a percentage, we need an absolute amount - a specific total number of grams each day, no matter how many calories we eat. So if we eat very little calories, it may look like a high percentage. I think for women our height, 100 grams of protein/day is a good number to shoot for (at least 30 grams/meal gets me there, usually). You're doing great! Keep going.
