The Doctor's Scale

A slap in the face of sorts - reality check - no more excuses. I ate and drank all weekend, and snacked on "left over" Easter candy so it really shouldn't surprise me that my weight at the Dr's office was

204.0 POUNDS!

My "starting over again" weight.

And the rest of the physical just went downhill. My blood pressure that is always normal was a little high 124/84 and my T4 was 6.2 higher than it has been, so my medication dosage increased 25 mg, and there's "concern" about the weight gain - about 15 pounds in a year. Meh.  The doctor strongly suggests that I make a concerted effort to eliminate sugar - saying that I should go cold turkey - 2 weeks without fruit or anything sweet. She wants to see me in two weeks to recheck the thyroid, BP and wants me to be under 200 lbs.

TWO WEEKS. No processed sugar. No fruit.

I can do this... again.

Well, that wasn't a very nice welcome back, was it?! I kind of like the two-week plan, though - great to take this process in "do-able" bites like that. Two weeks is a perfect length of time for a transition period, and to see some result.
I agree with Enz: you can do this!
