Thursday Ramblings...

Hoping for a NORMAL schedule, but then I KNOW there is no "NORMAL" and I need to just go with it...

  • Friends of the little one ask us to watch their 2 dogs for 2 days because of ill grandparents...
  • DH mistakenly took my phone to work with him yesterday (about an hour away...)
  • A friend's stepson overdosed, died at 23. The wake is this afternoon, funeral tomorrow. (super sad)
  • A postponed family holiday party is rescheduled to this Saturday...The caterer we originally booked is on vacation so I am tasked with ordering/picking up from a different one Saturday... and;
  • We have to go to the post office Saturday to get girls' passport applications processed (we've been putting it off for WEEKS!)
  • The teen is taking her driving test for the second time Saturday morning at 8... (nerves)....
  • I won't be able to run with my girls because of all the Saturday errands... (grumble)
  • The teen got a part in a community production of BIG FISH (yeah) and the rehearsal schedule just added 3, 20 mile drop offs/pick ups Tuesday Thursday and Sunday... (boo!)

My food yesterday was a little bit off... There were a few things I ate that did not support my plan...

Trader Joe's root veggie chips... I opened the bag in the car on the way home... I threw them out - half the bag - because I KNOW I have no control with them...

I bought the kids trader joe cookies... 12 for 150 calories... but they do not fit my macros (not even 6!, even if I had the spare calories... which I did not).

A nightly Luna Bar is a habit I need to nix!  190 calories, 28 carbs... They are a fine, once in a while kind of treat, but not every day!

Do you see the issue - SWEET! -

Each morning gives me an opportunity to live a better day...

good job tossing those chips! do NOT have temptation in the house, where we have to keep making the decision not to eat the crap, over and over again - rather than just deciding one time in the store. I know, easier said than done (at least for me).

I am so with you on the sugar. So much easier to say NO once, than stop after taking one bite. We still have tons of treats floating around the office and people dropping stuff - I just walk right by. One bite will start a sugar train that I cannot get off of!

Have you read "It Starts With Food"? It is the best book I've ever read to explain, in layman's terms and clear science as to why the sugar thing happens. I always thought it was a will power thing but now I know there is a reason it happens it is so much easier to control. I do not abstain 100% but I do know when I choose to eat sugar that it will be for something 'worth it', you know?

In the book they call sugar a "dragon" and they say, "starve the dragon" is the only way to kill it.
