Out the door...

It's excellent that today is... a half day for my kids... They haven't had a whole week of school since Christmas...They JUST had winter break... Goodness! How are they ever going to learn? My teen decided it would be a good day to NOT get up. She is a complete bear in the morning and I see it as my daily quest to get her to school. This morning was particularly difficult and took all my resolve to NOT feed into her negative energy and escalate an already ugly process... The result - she's at school - score one for me. Of course I was 30 minutes late, but whatever...

My SD was pretty easy in the mornings, but I remember when I was 17-18 my 10-yrs-younger sister had SUCH a bad time in the morning. My mother never attempted to de-escalate, she always fed right into it, and ramped it up, and it always bothered me how (a) that started my sister's day off so very badly each day, and, now that I'm older, I see (b) how she never taught my sister how to cope with her morning self. This means learning how herself, of course. I do NOT envy your position, but I do see that this is something she needs from you, something to learn how to manage. You sound like you're doing great! But, UGH what a trying way to start YOUR day, LOL! Good job, Mom.
