Week 9 and FINALLY Friday....

I'm not gonna lie - this morning was TOUGH. The teen decided last night that she was NOT going to school this morning. She was TOO tired; but would not go to bed last night until I agreed to let her sleep. I validated her tiredness and told her I did not want to fight with her and would see her in the morning.... Fast forward... morning... meh... I did not escalate and did not let the DH escalate the situation (although he did go to the kitchen for some ice - thank goodness I caught him! ). He takes it as a personal affront when the teen doesn't hop right out of bed at his insistence. He thinks I baby her; rub her back; promise her D&D and "We shouldn't have to do this!" - I 100% agree, AND I want our kid to go to school. This is how I get her to school right now.

I held her phone and Chromebook hostage and although late and annoyed that there would be no D&D, she went to school. Now if I can just get her to her counseling appointment tonight we'll be golden... for tonight... It has been so hard for her lately. I know she's hurting. I'm looking for a better way.

On the food front, I did well yesterday and I hit my steps. We went out for 5 May, but I wasn't hungry. I did eat the popcorn; but only ordered soda water to drink. I got my steps in again in spite of the rain. This weekend I'm going back to basics.

Good for you for staying true to handling your teen the way that your intuition tells you is best. You are doing a great job of exercising patience, self-control, unconditional love in the face of serious challenge, and also standing up to a partner who wants to do things differently. You should be proud of yourself, you're doing great! I doubt it feels like that, but keep going. Practice some self-love for these extraordinary efforts your making, and recognize what a good, strong, loving mom you are. Happy Mother's Day <3
