Fast Tuesday is Not Dead

Did anybody read this post by Carla?

IF you did, then you know TODAY is the day we give up on our New Years resolutions.

Today is my FAST DAY. It's my 5th FAST DAY in fact and my "goal" is to make it through April fasting every Tuesday. Yesterday there was a lot of negative self talk... Tomorrow no food... What are you going to eat tonight? Are you really going to make it through the day? Maybe you should switch to a low cal option...  

I am NOT eating today and it's thanks to Carla. It's not that I would have caved and ate, but the fact that someone's telling me my goals are doomed has given me even greater resolve. I am NOT eating today. This resolution (new evolving experimental habit) is alive and well.

I want to be in control of my body. I don't want one little part of my mind... the part with no self control or ability to see beyond immediate self gratification to derail my efforts of maintaining a healthy weight. I need to get these pounds off!

On another, hopeful note - I got my blood work back and my numbers (although up slightly from this summer) are still in the normal range (though barely...) I'm feeling pretty good.

Yesterday the gym was super crowded so we did a little treadmill and then the stair climber... If you haven't used that machine.. man, it is a workout! Ten minutes was all I could muster; 30 floors climbed; sweating like you wouldn't believe. A good cross training workout (especially if I plan to climb mountains this summer!) Today we'll do weights - if we can get there. Weather is forecast to be freezing rain/snow this afternoon. I don't want to be trapped in the house - heroic efforts could be in order....

My food intake this week was not stellar. There was a lot of crazing... way too many carbs and probably not a lot of accuracy in MFP since I would log food long after the fact and try to remember what I ate and how much.. .That is not how it's suppose to be done.

Still working on ways to deal with stress other than eating.It's a coping skill I could do without. Maybe I'll gain some insight at Kripalu this weekend.... One day closer to calmness....

Of course you are not going to give up on your fasting! You've done it successfully before and there's no reason today won't be a success! You are resolute :)

I've added the stair climber recently too, as a warm up. It's definitely more demanding than the treadmill LOL! Mine doesn't count floors :/

Have a great fasting day today. In any moments of struggle, just think how good you'll feel tomorrow morning that you did it.

Congrats on the good numbers from your bloodwork. Sounds like you have a competitor's edge. If someone tells you you can't do something, it drives you harder to prove them wrong! That's a great quality to have when it comes to losing weight. Good luck on your Fast Day!
