Week One of 5 Miler Training

Run to Remember is Sunday, May 28, 2017. It's 15 weeks away so I have plenty of time to get ready. Again, my personal goal is 5, 12 min miles, no walking. Training weeks start on Saturdays, because I know that I nearly always run with my Girls. The plan is 3 running days and 2 days of strength or cross training. The running days are 1.) Long Slow Distance; Run 50 min; and 2.) two 40 minute runs; 7 sets of 5 minute sets with one minute walks in between. This first phase will last through February. My youngest daughter is on board; we'll keep each other accountable.

She runs WAY faster than me.

I admire people who run. I used to run but hated every &^&% second of it. Now with fibromyalgia it's too hard on me, but I often flirt with the idea of starting again.

That sounds great! I signed up for a half in October and have a lot of catching up to do, was waylaid with a hamstring issue. I'll look forward to hearing about your training as you go along!

Trust me - it's not a LOVE of mine to run... I just find it the easiest form of exercise which after it's over will give me some satisfaction because I respect how hard it is for me.
